Registrants  are encouraged to seek assignments to write and photograph articles on Milwaukee and Wisconsin during their trip to  the Digital Travel Photography Institute.

Milwaukee has a population of approximately 600,000, and an area covering nearly 96 square miles. It’s the 22nd-largest city in the country. The four-county metropolitan area (Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Washington, and Waukesha counties) has a population of 1.6 million.

In 2006, Milwaukee’s tourism industry employed more than 64,000 full-time equivalent residents who took home more than $1.5 billion in income! In Greater Milwaukee, $2.6 billion in economic impact is attributed to the travel and tourism industry. During 2006, traveler expenditures in the Greater Milwaukee Area (Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Washington and Waukesha counties) added up to an additional $300 million in state government revenues and $115 million in local government revenues.

Average June to August temperature is 77.7ºF but it is often cooler near Lake Michigan.  Subsequently, it might be wise to bring a sweater or jacket for the German Fest shoot at the lakefront festival grounds, Friday, July 25.  Also umbrellas and rain gear may be necessary.
