Points to Remember:

1.  Dress for the weather because shoot-arounds will take place rain or shine.  Bring whatever lighting equipment you need because shooting will be inside, as well as outside.

2.  Bring your cameras to all functions, including receptions and dinners because all events will present travel-related photography opportunities, including food, decor, building fronts, chefs/staff and related images to enhances your portfolio.

3.  You will be given subjects to cover for the Saturday shoot-arounds, just as receiving a publication assignment.  As such, each photographer will need to develop a photo story and collect images as per the assignment, as appropriate.

4. For the Saturday general review session after the morning shootout, have 10 images of Milwaukee available for general viewing. Burn them to a CD if possible.

5.  Those of you having your portfolios critiqued on Saturday afternoon: 10 images should be pre-burned onto a DVD or CD. That way, the reviewers can slide your disc into their laptops and and then show you how certain things could be improved, like cropping, color adjustments and so on.  There will be three reviewers, with each allowing 10 minutes per review.  Participants will go in succession.

6.  You will need to provide your own cameras and laptops.  Computers will be available for CD/DVD presentations.  Laptops should have Photoshop 3 or a later version of Elements.

7. Bring plenty of model releases.

8. You are responsible for being on time for all events, including those away from Johnston Hall at Marquette.  Otherwise you are on your own for transportation to and from the event.  It is also an easy 10-block (or so) walk from downtown Milwaukee west to the Doubletree and Straz Towers, which can be a pleasant stroll on a July night (be sure to look for photos along the way).

9.  On your own, you are welcome to make arrangements to sell your work to any Milwaukee entity you photograph.

10.  Lodging and transportation are not included in the tuition fee, and are the responsibility of each registrant.   Lodging at the Doubletree host hotel and at Marquette University’s Straz Tower is encouraged for the sake of convenience, but is not required.  However, all tours will depart and return from the Doubletree or Straz and registrants need to make their own arrangements to be present for pickup and return.
